A Climathon Mtwara 2025, held on April 9th and 10th, 2025, in Mtwara, Tanzania. Funded by Climate-KIC, this event aimed to foster innovation, collaboration, and community-driven solutions to critical local climate challenges.
A Climathon Mtwara 2025, held on April 9th and 10th, 2025, in Mtwara, Tanzania. Funded by Climate-KIC, this event aimed to foster innovation, collaboration, and community-driven solutions to critical local climate challenges. Its objectives included raising awareness, inspiring new projects, and promoting climate adaptation by bringing together entrepreneurs, researchers, government officials, and community members. The Climathon focused on three key challenges: Sustainable Coastal Livelihoods and Blue Economy Development, Urban Greening and Reforestation to Combat Coal Dust Pollution, and Waste Management and Circular Economy. The event successfully engaged 57 participants (26 female, 31 male) and resulted in the proposal of 6 innovative solutions. Post-Climathon support includes business idea refinement sessions, expert engagement, and specialized training in partnership with SIDO Mtwara, with all training costs covered by ClimaCare Tanzania , formerly known as BDS Enterprise and SIDO.
